 Common Ground Christian Community is a church with a dream. It is a dream that comes in two parts. The beginning of our dream is the vision to be a church within and through which all kinds of people can find and experience the love, the acceptance, and the transforming power of the Lord Jesus. The second part of our dream is the vision to be a church within and through which all kinds of people can come together and work together as a force for God’s goodness in a world gone bad.
Let me emphasize three elements of this dream. First, Common Ground desires to be a community for all people. We believe that the gospel of Jesus is meant to bring people from different backgrounds and places in life together. So, at Common Ground we work to reach out with the love of Jesus across barriers of race and economics and education that normally keep people apart.
Second, Common Ground desires to be a community that makes searching and discovery possible. We don’t believe that answers to life’s big questions (“Why am I here?” “Is there a God” “Who is this Jesus?” “Does anybody care about me?”) come in neatly wrapped little packages. We also know that the Jesus of Scripture calls people to entrust their entire lives to Him. This is not a decision (to trust Jesus or not) that should be made lightly. So, at Common Ground we work to be a safe place without pressure – where it is okay to take your time, okay to ask hard questions; and we work to be a place where people come alongside one another on the journey of life to help and encourage.
Third, Common Ground desires to be completely devoted to Jesus and to advance the Kingdom of God. Following Jesus is not about “going” to church. It is about actively working alongside Jesus to bring His love and truth into every segment of society. So, in a world gone bad, Common Ground works to bring the hope, healing, and help of God to the people who need it most.

What then shall we say, brothers? When you come together, everyone has a hymn, or a word of instruction, a revelation, a tongue or an interpretation.
